Happy New Year! Our family is excited to start 2019 with a bang and can’t wait for the Australia Day long weekend celebrations in the City of Perth. Celebrations run from Friday 25- Monday 28th January which means there will be plenty to do and lots of activities for the kids too. Here are my picks for the best family friendly events:

  • Aussie Play Day (Sunday 27 Jan 2019 | 11:30am to 3:30pm at Cathedral Square) – Celebrate Australia’s diverse culture with a FREE family fun event which will feature craft activities, live music and dance workshops led by international dancers from Australia, Japan, India and New Zealand.
  • Skyworks and the Lotterywest Entertainment Zone (Saturday 26 Jan 2019 |Lotterywest Entertainment Zone: From 3pm, Fireworks: 8pm) – Children entertainment to start from 3pm.
  • Festival of Sail (Sunday 27 and Monday 28 Jan 2019) – Two days of free sailing for children and adults at Elizabeth Quay. Come down and give it a go!
  • Fringe for Kids (Friday 18 Jan – Sunday 17 Feb 2019) – ‘Fringe is not just for the big kids!”. Plenty of free and ticketed events from around the world for the whole family with loads of music, comedy, circus, magic, workshops. Please visit their website to find our more:

  • Checking out the Perth Sign at Yagan Square (Saturday 26 Jan – Monday 18 Feb 2019) – In celebration of Australia Day, the Perth sign includes the Aboriginal flag and Torres Strait Islander flag, and will also represent the 78 nationalities living within the Perth CBD based on the 2016 census for the Perth metro area. This Perth sign will sit in Yagan Square until 18 Feb, so come point your flag out out and use the hashtag #cityofperth

City of Perth Winter Festival 2018 {Sponsored}

{*This is a sponsored post}

During the July school holidays we managed to get out of the house (despite the bad weather) and enjoy the City of Perth Winter festival. There were a variety of activities set up all over the CBD so it was a lot of fun for the kids to do something different each time. We started the festival with the the giant white ball pit set up in Yagan Square. My kids enjoyed it so much that they even convinced me to jump in too!

Maxi-Cosi Moda and Luna car seats

I’ve been very lucky that all my three girls love being in the car. It was a blessing that they could sleep happily as babies in the car seat even though that might have meant in very desperate times resorting to driving up and down the street!

Since we are often in the car (daily school drop-offs and long road trips on the weekend), we know we cannot compromise on safety and comfort. Maxi-Cosi have been awarded for safety innovation so their car seats are the safest in the market. I had the fantastic opportunity to review their car seats: The Luna and the Moda.

Family portraits with Viva Photography

We live in an age where we take photos constantly. How simple is it to just pop out our phones from our pockets and snap away? Anyone can do it but yet with the hundreds if not thousands of photos I take of my kids, I still struggle to find something nice enough to enlarge, frame and hang on the wall.

The truth behind my Instagram photos of my girls (shooting my house is 100x easier and less likely to end up with me screaming) is that I have to take dozens of shots to just get the one picture I will end up posting – and most of the time I’m unable to get a decent shot of all 3 of them.

So I jumped at the chance to review the products and service from Viva Photography…and finally be able to get a nice photograph to frame and even gift to my mother and mother-in-law #winning.

Summer Fun with Clark Rubber

What are your memories of summer school holidays? For me, it was sipping on fruit flavoured icy poles, watching the Australian Open tennis on TV (with the air conditioning cranked up) and having lots of fun with water. Back when I was a kid (this was pre-iPads and pre-iPhones) most of the time I just enjoyed being outside with my imagination and the simplest of toys during the summer holidays.

So it was exciting for my girls when they received the Double Superslide and the Giant Hippo Ride On from Clark Rubber. Slightly reminiscent of the toys I had when I was younger but now bigger and better! We knew we would have loads of fun with these toys during the summer school holidays and also be kept cool at the same time.

The Tuutu Baby Box

{This is a sponsored blog post. Words and opinion are my own}

When I left the hospital with my first baby I knew it wouldn’t come with a manual, but I didn’t think receiving a bag crammed with pamphlets and samples of generic branded baby lotions were going to really help me either – but this is exactly what happened each time I had baby right here in Australia!

For 75 years in Finland however, mothers actually get given something quite different and special. Would you believe me if I told you it was a cardboard box?

Marnie’s Birth Story

Meet Marnie! She is now 9 weeks and we love her to bits. Both Lily and Nyla adore her and surprisingly they have coped really well with the new addition. The birth went really well and I really do credit hypnobirthing for getting over my initial fear of childbirth and having calm birthing experiences. Read on if you would like to know more about my birthing experience with Marnie…
