Perth Festival 2013 – Scattered Light
by sassandspice
During the long weekend, Lily, DH and I went to Kings Park to see Jim Campbell’s light installation Scattered Light as part of the Perth Festival. When we first saw the lights peer out from under the trees, Lily got very excited and claimed there were ‘lots of stars’!
1600 light bulbs suspended from a wire flicker on and off at what first seems random, but as you move further away you notice that the light bulbs are acting like pixels on a TV forming a ‘cinematic experience’ of people walking (sadly I couldn’t capture this on my camera with the low light).
Now I’m not the type to get too artsy fartsy and analyse art to death, but this was pretty cool and interactive enough to interest the kids.
If you have missed out on the Perth Festival, you can still catch the films until the 14 April.

Wow, this looks really beautiful! Can imagine 1600 light bulbs and Lily’s excitement…so Cute to think they are little stars!
Thank you for sharing this as its always interesting to get insight of festivals around the world.
One day I would love to take my husband and daughter to Japan to see the amazing festivals over there though! But it’s always great to be part of something at home too.
