”A portrait of our children, once a week, every week, in 2013″
This long weekend we’ve been eating out lots. For dinner on Saturday night, Lily scoffed down an adult’s serving of spaghetti bolognese. And for breakfast the next day she ate pancakes that were laid out to the shape of a caterpillar.
Even though eating out with Lily is hard work, we are determined to do it at least once a month as a treat, and for her to see eating out as fun and social. We’ve been told that before having kids, that we will never enjoy eating out again, which isn’t totally true. Yes, we go out to different places, and it isn’t exactly peaceful, but we do end up enjoying ourselves. And now that she is a toddler, we are finding it easier.
Do you eat out often with your kids?
Linking up to the Che and Fidel’s 52 portrait a week challenge

We eat out with Logan a lot. But of course the fun level depends on what kind of mood he’s in and if he’s ready for a sleep.
He usually loves it though especially if juice and anything sweet is involved!
It certainly isn’t fun when they are sleepy, but it gets better when they are over two, as they aren’t as tired and cranky anymore.
I love all messy face of toddlers when they eat spaghetti…
I agree eating out is easier with a toddler depending on right places and time of the day…we eat out a lot with Bebe though at times it’s messy and lengthy process!
It can be embarrassing that they are so messy and noisy eater. Hopefully in time they will get less messy and noisy!
Oh I eat out a lot then in comparison. But I do the old takeaway type of places. They like chicken rice and noodles in soup. So I get my noodle fix
Oh I need to try those kind of places too as they are usually pretty cheap. Do the noodles in soup get messy though?
It can be hard work, but we like taking our boys out once a week as well. It’s gotten easier as they’ve gotten older and now it’s quite straightforward to sit them in a row and have them wait for their food and eat (mostly) when we tell them to. Lots of trial and error to work out what works for us! She is SO cute, as always. Love her look of intense concentration.

They learn so much when eating out don’t they? I like how you mentioned the waiting for the food and I think them seeing how other people eat around them is good too. Eating out is fun and social so lets hope they learn good manners and enjoy it too!
we take lula out quite a bit! though we tend to do brunch/lunch more often than dinner! I figure at some stage in the future its going to click and not be so hard. “Slurpy Noodles’ are our favourite meals out at the moment! x
p.s lily is so cute!
Okay I really need to try going out for noodles with Lily now!
